AI Governance
The framework of policies and controls that ensure AI tools (like Microsoft 365 Copilot) are used responsibly, securely, and transparently.
Copilot (Microsoft 365 Copilot)
An AI assistant built into Microsoft 365 apps (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) that helps draft, summarize, and automate tasks.
Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
Technology that detects and prevents sensitive information (such as financial data or personal details) from leaving the organization unintentionally.
Endpoint
Any device that connects to your company’s network, such as laptops, desktops, or mobile devices.
Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory)
Microsoft’s cloud-based identity and access management service, used to control who can sign in and what they can access.
Intune (Microsoft Intune)
Microsoft’s cloud service that manages and secures company devices, apps, and policies across employees’ endpoints.
Lifecycle Management
The continuous process of keeping systems, devices, and software secure and up-to-date, from onboarding to decommissioning.
Microsoft Purview
Microsoft’s suite of compliance and governance tools for classifying, labeling, and protecting sensitive data across an organization.
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
A security process that requires more than one proof of identity (for example, a password plus a mobile app confirmation).
Shadow IT / Shadow AI
The use of unauthorized software, cloud services, or AI tools by employees without IT approval, creating hidden risks.
Secure Score
A Microsoft 365 measurement that shows how well an organization is following recommended security practices.
Zero Trust
A security model that assumes no user or device can be trusted by default, even if already inside the network, and requires strict verification at every step.
